Turbine engine manufacturers are employing Laser Systems to drill,ablate, cut, weld, clad and mark critical components used in both aircraft and industrial gas turbines. Details of these techniques are discussed and explanations of the various Technology Modules such as DOF (drilling-on-the-fl ), probing, SPC and breakthrough detection are given. Turnkey solutions employing Robotized loading and unloading of workpieces are discussed. The use of YAG, Q-switched, CO2 and other Laser power sources is explained in both the manufacture of original components and the repair of previously-run parts.
