Laser colorful marking in metal is a novel marking technology and can be used in wide field such as brand logos, artworks, decorations and forgery resistance. This paper introduces a method of marking colorful image in stainless steel by using pulsed fiber laser and various colorful image expressions have been attempted. Additionally galvanometer and f-theta lens have been employed in delivering and focusing laser beam.
Morphological and microstructural characteristics in samples with various colorful images have been investigated through using SEM, XRD. Marking colorful image in metal by laser related to process of metal heat treatment are discussed. It makes possible to create more other color image in other metals through optimizing process parameters by laser marking.
