In the present work, three kinds of powder blend with nominal compositions of Ni75Al25 (at.%), Ni75Al15Si10 (at.%) and Ni75Al5Si20 (at.%) have been successfully fabricated by a continuous wave 10kW carbon dioxide laser under optimum processing conditions. X-ray diffraction (XRD) results showed that the phases of all the specimens mainly consist of Ni-Al type intermetallic compounds. The microstructures of three alloys were characterized using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and electron-probe microanalysis (EPMA). The microhardnesses were measured on a HX-1000TM type microhardness tester. The maximum of the microhardness is up to 740Hv with the composition of Ni75Al15Si10.
