On account of an ever increasing demand on medicine there is a need and a drive by the biomedical industry to develop robust and predictable implant technology. This paper gives an account of the implementation of CO2 and KrF excimer laser systems to modulate the biofunctionality of nylon 6,6 in terms of osteoblast cell response. It has been identified that there were correlative trends between the cell re...$28.00

Laser hardening achieves higher heating and quenching rates than other surface hardening methods. High heating rate minimizes the risk of degradation of the underlying material. Self-quenching is based on removing the heat from the surface into the part's core by conduction, instead of the conventional cooling by water spray. Gear wheels, which tend to exhibit numerous cracks upon induction hardening, do not crack during laser hardening. In addition to the above-mentioned principles, this paper explai...$28.00

TIG welding is a common industrially established process. Its main advantage is the weld quality. The drawback is the low process speed which leads to high heat affects, irreversibly destroyed material properties and work piece distortion. To overcome these process limits...$28.00

Presented at ICALEO 2012
The authors have developed laser welding technologies for about 20 years. Our practical application has been started for thin stainless steel products in 1999. In this study, we developed high power laser welding system for thick plate products. A 10kW fiber laser is used for this system. By using this system, we can fabricate thick plate products whose thicknesses are 15mm max. We applied this laser welding system for some parts of chemical pla...$28.00
