Presented at ICALEO 2009
An aero space material, Inconel 718, was laser drilled with a diode pumped solid state Nd:YAG laser. During the laser drilling process, the emission spectra of the Inconel 718 plasma have been recorded and analyzed using an optical emission spectroscopic method. After the process, the drilling depth of the holes produced at various conditions was measured by optical microscope. Temporal histories of the emission line intensity and drilling depth were obtained. The correlation, pre...$28.00

The laser drilling in percussion regime consists in irradiating a target with a laser in the power density range of 10 MW/cm2 and pulse duration in ms range . The beam and the target are static. The material is heated, melted and vaporized. The drilling is produced by the removal of the liquid layer using recoil pressure...$28.00

Optical emissions from the laser welding process can be obtained relatively easy in real-time. Therefore it is very beneficial to establish a clear relation between characteristics of these
emissions and the resulting weld quality or the occurrence of welding defects for any of the laser types currently applied in industry. Most commonly use...$28.00

Absorption varies quite a lot in laser welding. Accurate measurement of absorption in laser welding is also a challenging problem. Usually a calorimeter is commonly employed for measuring absorption. In this paper an alternative approach is presented for measuring absorption in laser welding of lean duplex LDX2101 and austenitic stainless steels of type 301 LN and 316 L based on the temperature distribution in the heat...$28.00

Presented at ICALEO 2009
The thermal deformation of the metal is very important factor for the laser welding technology. For a highly accurate welding with sheet metal by the laser, it is necessary to understand the distortion caused by laser processing to a highly accurate welding. At the first, to clarify the deformation values quantitatively when the laser welding of sheet metal, bead on plate by the moving heat source with continuous wave oscillations on the plate was done. It is considered the standard to know the deformation of laser welding. By using...$28.00
