MEMS manufacturing requires accurate positioning and high reproducibility. Lasers can be utilised in accurate post-fabrication adjustment, allowing for manufacturing processes with relatively large tolerances. Laser micro forming (LμF) is a process for the precision adjustment, shaping or correction of distortio...$28.00

Presented at ICALEO 2011
An algorithm of calculating fluence on-target in a mask-projection ablation system using an excimer laser will be reported. The algorithm extrapolates and obtains fluencies at multiple magnifications from one measurement at one magnification. To further enhance the capability, one can extend the algorithm to include one full set of fluencies under various pulse energies at one magnification. Our test results illustrate that the correct fluence at any magnification can be simply ...$28.00

Presented at ICALEO 2011
Using of refractive beam shapers with laser scanning optics is often considered in realizing various industrial laser technologies as well as techniques used in scientific and medical applications. Today the galvo mirror scanners with F-theta, telecentric or other lenses as well as gantry systems are widely used in different applications like micromachining, solar cell manufacturing, microwelding, drilling holes, selective laser melting and others which perform...$28.00

Drag-reduction of turbine-compressor-blades has been successfully demonstrated by using single-spot picosecond-laser-ablation. To accomplish this goal, small periodic riblets have been scribed into the blades surface parallel to the flow direction to reduce the turbulent airflow within the turbine. This approach is successful but lacks an industry-compatible pr...$28.00

Any high volume laser manufacturing process demands high throughput, improved accuracy, and minimal thermal damage to the target material. The diode pumped solid state (DPSS) Q-switched nanosecond lasers are being used routinely today for many semiconductor & microelectronics and solar cell manufacturing processes. They offer low noise, high stability, and reliability required for a robust manufacturing process. Over the past few years the energy available per pul...$28.00

Laser-material interactions are known to be strongly influenced by the polarization of the incident laser beam. In particular, polarization affects both the efficiency and the quality of ultra-short pulse micro-processes such as helical drilling and cutting. The potential benefits of using radial ...$28.00

Presented at ICALEO 2011
Laser ablation is arguably the most important application areas of pulsed lasers, and is also the foundation of many other applications, such as precision microfabrication and pulsed laser deposition. However, underlying physical phenomena are still far from completely understood because ablation occurs at extremely high temperatures and pressures. In this study, the author investigate laser material interaction with emphasis on how a material behaves near the critical point. Employing temperature-dependent material proper...$28.00
