Focal spot positioning and robot path control require online measurement of the distance between a welding head and the workpiece to be processed. For autonomously working applications, such as cognitive focal shift control, distance measurements can be used to teach coaxial video images at different distances. This paper compares optical sensors based on laser tri...$28.00

Athermalization of focusing objectives is a common technique for optimizing imaging systems in the infrared where thermal effects are a major concern. The athermalization is generally done within the spectrum of interest and not generally applied to a single wavelength. By applying athermalization techniques to a laser system, a significant reduction in thermal lensing of the laser system can be realized. We describe a passive method minimizing thermal lensing of high power lasers.$28.00

Presented at ICALEO 2010
Joining of the dissimilar materials is necessary and important from a manufacturing viewpoint. Therefore, the authors have developed a new laser direct joining method between metals and plastics (Laser-Assisted Metal and Plastic joining method). Recently it has been reported that the LAMP joining between several metals and engineering plastics could produce sufficiently strong joints.
