Titanium and Nickel base alloys are the most commonly used materials in aero engine applications. In a first qualification step for repair and salvage of BLISKs (BLade Integrated DiSKs) by laser cladding the static mechanical properties of the laser cladded materials Ti-6Al-4V and Inconel 718 are characterized at their operating temperatures 300C and 650C. In a second qualification step the HCF (High Cycle Fatigue) behaviour of the laser cladded materials is tested on 2D blade mock-ups simulating real blades in the 1C mode. Based on the results achieved within the first and second qualification step the suitable post cladding heat treatments are determined in a third qualification step. Realized repairs and salvages of blade tips and leading edges are demonstrated.
