In this paper, the influences of the gap size on the fatigue strength of welded titanium alloy overlap-joints are studied. A finite element model (FEM) is established to evaluate the local stress concentration of overlap joint. By employing this FE model, the effects of the gap size on the local stress concentration of overlap joints are investigated and discussed. From the present study, the local stress concentration of the lap-joints with a proper gap will be a little lower.
