Hot cracking sensitivity of some commercially available alloy 625 powders in laser cladding has been studied. Based on the previous studies on total of 11 powders from different manufacturers, some follow-up tests with powders that had varying amounts of additional alloying or impurity elements boron, silicon, aluminium and titanium were concluded. Results show that the hot cracking tendency was increased when small amount of boron was added while the addition of aluminium and titanium seemed to cure the hot cracking tendency. Also the effect of elements boron, silicon, aluminium and titanium on the microstructure, hardness, dilution and bead shape were examined.
