Presented at ICALEO 2013
TeraDiode presents results of metal cutting with its 970 nm Wavelength Beam Combined (WBC) fiber-coupled, high brightness direct diode laser with a power level of 2,000 W and a 100 m fiber core diameter (beam parameter product < 4mm-mrad). Preliminary results in laser cutting, for thickness, speed, and quality, of sheets of Stainless steel 304, Carbon steel 4041 and Aluminum A5052 are to be provided. Preliminary results confirm the potential of wavelength beam combined direct diode lasers for cutting of steel and aluminum. The power conversion efficiency above 40% makes this laser of significant interest for industrial applications.
