A computer model and bovine retinal explant were used to model thresholds for pulsed and scanned exposure to 532 nm radiation. For exposure to pulse trains with varying peak power the damage threshold is often solely determined by the pulse with the largest peak power, which results in the total-on-time criterium to be not appropriate. The model threshold data for scanned radiation can be used to calculate an appropriate scaling of MPEs and AELs relative to the non-scanning beam.
