Course Overview

Your staff will learn basic physics, biological effects, beam hazards, non-beam hazards, and control measures for safe laser environments. After completion of this course, your staff will be able to:

• State what ANSI is
• Recognize the scope of the Z136 standards
• Identify what “LSO” stands for
• Identify properties of laser light
• Define ‘energy’ and ‘power’
• Recognize laser hazard classes
• Recognize behaviors of laser light
• Define the term 'hazard'
• Identify hazards posed to the eyes and skin
• Identify six common control measures
• Recognize laser safety signs
• Understand how to read OD on eyewear
